Great Gaddesden Cricket Club News story

GGCC wins Prize at Dacorum Awards Evening!

13 Mar 2019

John Cheeseman Snr and Stuart Upton attended the Dacorum Council Community Grant Awards Evening, held at The Forum, Hemel Hempstead on Tuesday 12 March. The evening was hosted by the Mayor to recognise the projects that Dacorum Council has helped to fund over the past year (2018).

The Great Gaddesden Cricket Club Practice Nets Refurbishment Project that we carried out last year was one of the projects that Dacorum Council helped to fund. Our project was rated as follows:

  • Highly Commended - in the Regeneration category
  • Winner - in the Volunteering category!

This is fantastic news for the club - and more especially very worthy recognition for all of the club members that helped to make the project such a success. The Awards committee noticed from the reports and photo's that we sent in, that many different club members had obviously given up their time and efforts voluntarily to the project.

So - a very big thank you once again to everyone that helped out with all of the digging, sawing, scraping, wheel-barrowing, more digging, painting, concreting, welding, hanging nets etc etc etc!

We can hopefully all look forward to getting plenty of use in these excellent nets for years to come.

As a category winner we will also receive a prize of £100 - which should please the Treasurer!
