Great Gaddesden Cricket Club Lost : St Albans 228 for 7 off 52 overs, Gadd 133 ao off 37 overs

Match report Same as last week really, lost toss and asked to field on a slightly damp but drying wicket. Some decent bowling from Humphreys and Hearn kept things tight at the start, then Jim Ambrose came on to bowl a decent spell of swing bowling to pick up 3 wickets. It looked at one stage like we would be able to restrict St Albans to a total of under 200 however, Baylis (81 N.O) showed h's class and got the oppo upto a total of 228-7 off 52 overs.

The batting effort was again found wanting as a young, decent bowling attack exploited conditions really well with only Cheeseman jnr (33) and Paul Humphreys (28) showing any real resistance. Yet again the lower/middle order failed to contribute which is an area we desperately need to improve on if we want to remain in Div 8A.

Can't fault the effort or the attitude however, ultimately it is a skill game and if we want to improve then it comes down to practice and application which is severely lacking this season. Nets on Thursdays lads and Tuesdays on request!
