Great Gaddesden Cricket Club Won : LT&I 176 ao off 52.4 overs, Gadd 177 for 9 off 46.1 overs

Match report A bright sunny afternoon, half way through the season and a must win from here on for the Gadds to stay in league 8A. A bad run of tosses continued for the Gaddesdon skipper as he has lost it once again and was send in to field by the opposition.
Paul and Dave started of the proceedings by keeping it tight with some excellent bowling. The opposition had a slow but steady start by ticking over the scorecard but also making sure that they don’t lose a wicket early on as well. First change of bowling by the skipper by bringing on Jimmy and from the other end the skipper has decided to bring on himself. As jimmy was keeping the bowling tight and putting pressure from one end it didn’t took long until John got the breakthrough from the other end. With some great fielding efforts in the field backing up the bowlers and putting pressure on the batsman, wickets were coming on regular intervals. With wickets to Amin and Tom one each. Paul taking 3 wickets warping up the innings with John who finished of with 4 wickets.
With finishing of the first inning by getting the  opposition all out for 176, Gaddesden captain was very pleased with his team performance. After a lovely Tea break, it was time for Gaddesdon to chase down target.
A solid start by the openers the gadds looked in a very good position wrapping the game up quickly, until Cheeseman Jnr fell short of another well deserved 50, followed very shortly by the next wicket of Usman. Archie joined John Moore in the middle taking control of the inning before he getting bowled out. In came the experienced Paul taking on the innings with a positive approach by scoring quickly until he got his partner run out. With another 40 odd runs to win the Gaddesdon tail started to enter the crease and tension started to build because it wasn’t long until Paul returned back to the pavilion. With Tom and Amin returning just scoring single figures all the Gaddesdon hope turned on Dave Hearn to bring the game home.Dave and George were rotating strike very well and bring the total down to single figures to win. With George gone followed by Dave who was given lbw by the umpire who has risen his finger the second the ball hit the pad.
With only 4 to win of the last 2 overs it was over to Jimmy and Mark to finish of the job. Mark running 3 on a misfield by the opposition on the last ball of the 46 over. This left Gaddesdon and Mark to score 1 more run of the last over (6 deliveries). The whole team gathered round, tension was building to a end of a great game of cricket. Mark hits the ball straight to the fielder who luckily drops it on the first attempt and whilst taking the single the same fielder misses a golden opportunity to redeem himself by running the batsman out but he missed it which ensured that Great Gaddesden won the game by 1 wicket and the second victory of the league. What a great day of cricket with a superb victory hopefully Great Gaddesdon could  continue winning like this and wrap up the season up on a high. Up the Gadds!!!
