West Herts VI v Great Gaddesden Cricket Club Saturday Development XI on Sat 27 May 2017 at 13:00
Great Gaddesden Cricket Club Won : West Herts 158 ao in 34.5 overs, Gadd 159 for 7 in 33.5 overs

Match report An excellent contest that went to the wire with all three results possible until the penultimate over.
West Herts opened the batting on an interesting wicket and were soon in trouble. Tight bowling by Mark, Asghar and Kashif meant that after 12 overs the home side were 19-4. Hamza removed their skipper with an excellent ball and the talk was all about would we be finished by 4pm. However at this level there is always a couple of more experienced players lurking down the order and so it was today, at drinks the West Herts 6 and 7 had progressed to 43-5. They continued to score reasonably quickly, the number 6 in particular scoring freely with a specialist thick edge that repeatedly avoided the behind the wicket cordon.
Mark returned to remove the number 7 and the innings closed with West Herts out for 158 after some smart work by Asghar to run out the last batsmen.
With a pressing family engagement to go to Mark and Archie opened the batting and after 6 overs we were 15-2 with Mark and Archie on their way home. West Herts loaned us their 12th Man and he batted exceptionally well to hold the innings together. at ten overs we were 30 odd for 3, which effectively was 30-5 as we only had 9 players. Asghar battered a quickfire 24 to get us up with the pace. This bought Kashif to the crease who batted sensibly and then unfortunately ran out our number 3 who made a well crafted 39.
After 20 overs we were 87-5 requiring 72 runs off 15 overs with three wickets left.
A tiring Kashif ran himself out bringing Hamzah to the crease with the score at 94-6. Together the skipper and Hamzah accumulated sensibly taking the score to 146 before Hamzah fell for 22. 5 overs, 1 wicket or 13 runs to decide the game. Amin game to the crease and three runs were added with no alarms.
The West Herts skipper turned to his experienced number 6 batsmen to try and spin a win. His first ball to Amin was a juicy full toss which was dispatched with aplomb to the square leg boundary, the second was a carbon copy. Two quick singles and the scores were level.
The skipper batted out a maiden against the opening quick before Amin clipped the winning runs through the tight field ring of fielders, the victory was ours. A big thank you to West Herts for hosting the game and being sporting opponents.
