Match report Finally with the weather relenting the mighty Gadd were able to get there cricket season up and running. So straight into the 1st league game, Toss won and with the sun beating down, batting seamed the best option. A decent start from the openers was ruined when the kamikaze captain called Rob through for a single which would have seen both batsmen run out by 4 yards..... they went Robs end! A few promising starts form Humphreys and Birdseye and some solid stuff the Uzzy and Stu Upton were the only real contributions in a below par total of 138 against a very average bowling attack it has to be said. Still, with a wicket that was producing a bounce a bit like a squash ball, we still felt a win was possible.
The bowlers started well by keeping things real tight but the batsmen were solid and didn't look likely to give there wicket away so the changes were rang and despite some half chances created, it wasn't until the score was on 60 that Stuart managed to break the opening partnership and give us a glimmer. A strong LBW appeal was turned down soon after and despite some encouraging bowling from both young Archie and Tommy G, A 9 wicket loss was handed to us with improvments required in all 3 departments but good that everyone got a decent run and hopefully some of the rust and dust from the winter has dispursed.
